Jake Green walked to the portrait of Merlin that signified the entrance to Headmaster Witchard's office. "Hello there, Merlin, how have you been? You
know, King Arthur has been wanting to see you." Jake laughed silently to himself because it sounded so much like a joke, though it was not. The King
Arthur that has been guarding the entrance to his secret room in his office has asked to see Merlin. "Is Headmaster Witchard in? I need to see him about
how often I can come in for Psychology house calls. Sometimes, I think he should see a Psychologist."

"King Arthur can act his age and be patient," said Merlin, a small smirk growing across his face. It had been ages since Merlin had worked for
Arthur, and he was not about to start again. Merlin enjoyed his retirement as a painting.
"Yes, Professor Witchard is in. Would you like me to tell him you're here to speak with him?"

"Yes, that would be wonderful. I wasn't sure if the password was changed from last year, so I am afraid I do not know it. Unless it is still Mars
Bars. Thanks you for your kindness, Mr.Merlin and I will let Artie know that he will indeed have to wait, but under the circumstances, he cannot leave from his
painting. He is pinned down there, I am afraid."

Merlin grinned at Jake's last statement, showing his teeth. "Even more excellent," he said cheerfully. "I can take my sweet time, now."
With that said, Merlin disappeared from his painting to go fetch Joseph Witchard. A few moments later, he returned to the painting, which immediately opened up
to admit Jake to the headmaster's office.

"Thank you, Mr.Merlin. I enjoyed our little talk. Maybe I will stop by just chat. Good day to you." Jake walked up the spiral steps leading to the Headmaster's office. When he reached the top of the long climb, he knocked upon the wooden door. He knew Joseph knew he was coming, but he would still be polite and knock first.

"Come in!" called Joseph's voice. The headmaster was sitting behind his desk with an open copy of the latest Daily Prophet. The front page showed
a photograph of a group of Aurors firing stunning spells at a small shack. In the windows of the shack, you could barely make out a group of wizards in
expensive robes, firing killing curses back at their pursuers. Joseph's eyebrows were raised.

"Come in!" called Joseph's voice.
Jake opened the door and walked in. "Good evening, Headmaster. How has your week been so far? Stressful I'd guess, from the state of things. You know, you should really think about being one of my clients. If anyone needs some counseling to just let out all that pent up emotion during these dreadful times, it is you. I came to talk to you about that actually. I wanted to come by once a week to just set up shop in the Great Hall after dinner for anyone who wants to sign up to be a client, that way an appointment can be made. What do you think?" Jake leaned up against the wall beside the door. It must have been rather odd for Witchard. Jake walked in sounding all professional, but the clothes he wore spoke nothing of professionalism. He wore muggle clothes, jeans and a black t-shirt as well as an old World War 2 camo jacket that was his grandfather's that he had worn when he fought for the American Expeditionary Force. |

Joseph smiled at Jake's idea. It was true; Joseph had a lot to deal with these days, and some of it was definitely pent up inside of him. Who wouldn't
have stressful emotions during this time of uncertainty? Joseph had thought about going to to Hogsmeade for a session once or twice. However, he had always
decided against it, for he knew how out of place he would feel by having counseling sessions from one of his students. "Thanks for the offer, Jake, but I
have a lot of responsibilities right now. If I was to add one more responsibility (for example, another appointment to keep), I'm fairly certain I would be
chucked into St. Mungo's due to insanity.
"And of course you can come by once a week. That's not a problem at all; I'll be sure to let the Aurors know who you are so there will be no attempt to curse you when you're walking up the front drive." Joseph grinned."

Jake smiled. "Well, Headmaster, that is one of your problems. You are making excuses, no offense meant, sir, but it won't always be of such benefit in
the future, sir. Stopping by every once and a while wouldn't harm you at all. Actually, it would help in the long run. If you continue at the rate your
going, I expect you'll be snapping the head off of every staff or student that makes a mistake in...oh about...two or three months. Or, if you would like,
sir I can stop by Hogwarts here if you don't want to be caught down at my Office. People would start thinking you are Mentally Troubled." Jake
laughed. "Although there is something that you should see at the office." Jake cast a ward against listeners. "It is a secret room or hold out.
It's going to be used for HC meetings, but if you need to use it for anything you can. It is as safe as Hogwarts. Actually safer since it is much smaller.
I have a portrait of King Arthur guarding it and maybe we could link your Merlin with it so we can relay messages back and forth if needed. In Hogsmeade, I
might see and hear a lot of things that you could use. "

As much as Joseph hated to admit it to himself, Jake was right; he was making excuses. However, the headmaster would still feel awkward by releasing his stress
to one of his former pupils. Plus, he really was stretched thin at the moment; the fact that Marsden had his eyes on Hogwarts kept Joseph very busy these days,
and the slogan MSPA was still floating in Joseph's subconscious.
"I'm in complete control, Jake," said the headmaster, smirking to let Jake know he was acting silly. "Perhaps I will give you a try sometime, though. Course, if I was a married man, I could just drive my wife mad with my problems." Joseph chuckled. "A secret room, you say?" Joseph sounded interested. "Well, it looks like you've been quite busy since leaving school. No disrespect intended, but I doubt that it's as safe as Hogwarts. Hogwarts' security is very powerful, and none of it is thanks to me; sometimes I wish I could get inside the founders' heads and see what their minds were like. But thank you for your willingness to help. I'll come to you for help if it ever comes to it, which might be sooner rather than later, at the rate the world is going."

Jake nodded. "Well, Headmaster, I shall take that as a yes. That is, after all, the first step in your recovery. And maybe you are right, the room may not
be as safe as Hogwarts, but due to Hogwarts size, there are many ways one can enter the school without directly walking through the gates out front." Jake
smiled and continued, "I am sure you yourself know countless other ways in, which I assume you have either blocked off or had guarded, but the room only
has one way in and that sort of balances things out a little, but Hogwarts still wins in the end."
Jake stood up and walked toward the Headmaster's desk and held out his hand to shake. "Oh and one more thing, Headmaster, if you ever need anything done. Anything at all, just let me know. I am always willing to do the impossible if it needs doing and I would do anything to protect the lives of the countless muggles and students here at Hogwarts." And Ashlin, Jake thought. |
